After Christmas

I hope you had an awesome Christmas! Mine was a little different. Normally I go back to Michigan and spent time with my family but this year I had to stay in Florida so I went to Jerry's parents. I'm not going to lie I was having a really hard time. Christmas is my favorite holiday, it was super hot here, and I miss my family so it was so so.

Although I did have an awesome weekend visiting friends, shopping, crocheting, seeing some weird light exhibit (they had creepy plastic Santa's and stuffed toys), and spending time with the Killebrew's (Jerry's family).

A Few Things...

Last night I was looking on Youtube for a few final DIY ideas for gifts but instead I was kinda intrigued by some Christmas decorating ideas. I get distracted so easily. Anyway here are a few that I thought were clever.

This geometric wreath idea from Meg Allan Cole is super simple and cute.

I love bath products so why not make my own bath bombs? This gal has a tutorial for moisturizing bath bombs.

A feather boa, fiesta, tinsel, and woodland tree. Why not??? This is such a clever idea. I never knew you could use a tomato cage to create a festive tree.

I love this cute lil mustache mug.

Do you still have some shopping/hand making to do?

Shining Light

This is another ornament I made earlier this week. Its so simple and made with very few supplies.

All you will need is spray paint (or acrylic paint), a wood ornament (I got mine at Joann Fabrics), Mod Podge, Glitter, Paint Brush, and Ribbon.....

...and when you are finished you'll have a cute glitter ornament :)

Christmas Nail Designs

I saw this tutorial today "4 Cute Holiday Nail Polish Designs" on Kandee's Youtube Channel. They are to cute! Plus this tutorial/Kandee is awesome. Not your typical Youtuber (is that a word?) anyway I really like the White Christmas idea and the Santa's Coat. These are great for Christmas week.

Oh yes Christmas is coming I can't wait!!! The baking, gift giving, lights, and spending time with family and friends :)

For the Pups!

Have you ever been stumped on what to get your furry lil pup or family pup? Well why not make them something amazing that they will either love to eat, play, or cuddle with? I personally don't have a pup but my family has 3 beagles (Sadie, Ginger, and Ruby)  and another dog named Hunter. They are so precious. But every year my sister Kels puts up their own Christmas tree down stairs and puts toys and treats underneath it. So far I got them marshmallows (their treat of choice), some of their favorite food, and some other treats but I was looking around and found some other cute ideas listed below :)

1. Dog Treats 2. Squeaky Dog Bone 3. Dog Silhouette Ornament  4. Pet ID Tag 5. Reversible Dog Bandannas 6. Dog Collar 7. Squeaky Dog Toy

Grinch-mas!

I decided to make some ornaments this year and wanted to share a few tutorials with you. This Grinch ornament is made out of fabric and several embellishments.

If you would like to make a stuffed ornament you will need the following supplies.

Fabric with any design
Coordinating fabric for the back
Polyfill Stuffing
Embroidery Thread
Thread
Embellishments (sequins and beads)
Needle
Scissors
Embroidery hoop (optional)
Ribbon
Pins

First pick out a design and cut out a rectangle or square (to have extra room). Once the piece is cut start embellishing the fabric using sequins, beads, embroidery, ect. I decided to use a embroidery hoop to make things a little easier (this is optional).

When finished adding embellishments cut out a piece of coordinating fabric for the back.

Place both pieces of fabric good sides facing each other, pin, and cut the desired shape including a seam allowance. Sew around the piece either using a needle and thread or sewing machine. Leave a small opening and flip the fabric inside out. Then stuff the lil guy with polyfill, sew the opening shut, and add a ribbon for hanging :)

Wishing!

Christmas is so close and there are a few things on my wish list :) First is the Naked 2 palette that came out a few weeks ago. I already have the Naked palette but I heard this one has much cooler tones. I love the neutrals! Some other makeup things I really want to try is the Bobby Brown Corrector and the Benefit Erase Paste. I'm really into makeup lately (good and bad thing). Also this elephant bank would look nice on my desk, maybe some big pearl earrings would be awesome, or something super shiny... Fingers crossed ;)

Do you have a Christmas wish list?

Be Merry

Christmas is approaching way to fast this year. Its my favorite time of the year but I still have some minor decorating to do. Like putting up lights, getting some things out of boxes, and making a few more things :) I love crafting/making gifts so I was searching for some inspiration and found these cute tutorials for Christmas.

MIA

Hello! Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I went up north to see my family for Thanksgiving and they live in the country so there really isn't any internet access. But I'm back in FL and have a few ornament tutorials I'm getting ready to post next week.

I hope you all had an awesome Thanksgiving :)

Over The Weekend

Over the weekend Jerry and I went to the Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney

I think this is my 5th or 6th year going. I absolutely love seeing all the artists and their pieces. Also they have awesome sidewalk chalk artists.

Michaels teamed up with Disney this year so they had tons of crafts, you could help build a super big dino or dragon in the Lego store, they had some interactive games, and all sorts of other stuff.

One artist I couldn't wait to see was Deona Fish. She's in the "folk art" section. I own 4 of her pieces now. I love her style so much. Also I really wanted this One-of-a-Kind Vinylmation Mickey designed by Lee Clark but it was super pricey.

Little Ones

In a previous post I mentioned I was making some gifts for a few pals that are expecting... well here is a little bit of my progress:)  I finished a teal and cream baby blanket for my old boss/supervisor Jason and his wife Ellen. Their expecting a little boy in January. I'm so excited for them:)

I also made a few bibs and burp cloths for a boy because I thought my other pal might be having a boy (they didn't know the gender) but they had a little girl. So its time to switch it up with some pink.

Shimmer and Shine

Lately I've been interested in all types of makeup. Why??? I have no idea its like an addiction I have right now. I'm not the best when it comes to this subject but I follow these gals on youtube to get a little inspiration - Kandee Johnson (hello! shes amazing and totally fun), Tiffany (MakeupByTiffanyD), and also Emily (emilynoel83).
I've also been reading what products are better than others and bought/received a few items that I absolutely love. Some of these products are super pricey but they last a long time and are worth it.

So first I love the Naked palette from Urban Decay its so amazing. The colors are so pigmented and versatile even though they are shades of either cream, brown, or gray:) Mac's eyeshadow in All that Glitters and Satin Taupe is my everyday go to and works with any outfit. Anastasia Beverly Hills came out with a kit at Ulta called ULTAment Brows including the Brow Wiz and Brow Duality. They make my brows show up so much more since I have super blonde brows. The BD helps highlight the brow bone. AMAZING!!! I also use the Pur Minerals Mineral Brow Perfection.
Another thing is something I came across in the department store. It's Ponds Evening Soothe Towelettes they completely clean all my makeup off and leave my skin feeling fresh and clean. I have a few more products being delivered from Urban Decay this week that I really wanted to try out too.

Do you have any go to makeup product you really like this month?

I LOVE spending time with her :) its completely priceless. I already miss her but I will be seeing my whole family shortly for the holidays :)

The Circle of Life!

Woot! The Lion King came out on DVD today. I can't wait to watch it :) Timon and Pumbaa are awesome. Also the The Lion King Broadway musical is amazing to. If your into musicals and of course The Lion King you will not be disappointed :)  If you can't tell already I LOVE Disney/Pixar movies.

I'm also super excited because my mom is flying in tomorrow. I can't wait! Shes going to be here for a few weeks so its going to be a blast :)

Hello Fall!

Here are a few pics I took over the weekend. I decided to go to the mall and see what some of my favorite stores had for fall. Urban Outfitters, the Anthropologie store, and Williams-Sonoma never disappoint. I was really inspired by a few things I saw.

Nieman Marcus had a beautiful display of white butterflies hanging down and I couldn't resist I had to take a picture.

I worked on my random granny square blanket and I'm so close to finishing. I also added some pouches to my Etsy store :)

This weekend felt so amazing outside. It wasn't to hot or to cold it was PERFECT. I absolutely love fall weather :)

I hope you all had a great weekend.

Lil' Trip

Over the weekend Jerry and I went to Tampa. He went to shoot a video with a friend and I hung out with Tori. We decided to go See Tim Gunn. Yes, Mr. Project Runway himself. There was a fashion show at International Mall in Tampa so we got there like an hour and a half before it started. Luckily we got some seats before they were all taken. He was a host and super informational on the new trends also what clothing flatters certain types. (Pic is by Tori)

Then afterwords Nordstroms was doing makeup so I got mine done by MAC and got a few products:). I had my favorite tea from Teavanna, got some Frosted Cranberry candles at Bath and Body Works (love love this scent), did a little sewing, crocheted, spent time with the Killebrew clan, and drove for miles.I had so much fun minus some allergy problems:(

How was your weekend?

Silver Leafing

Since my last tutorial I have a lot of silver leaf left and wanted to do something with it. So I took one of my elephants and decided to revive the lil buddy :) This project was easy but a little time consuming. The silver leaf is like glitter it gets everywhere and sticks. But all in all I like the way it turned out. If you wanted to silver leaf an object here is what you will need....

Supplies:
- An object to cover
- Silver leaf sheets
- Spray paint (optional)
- Gloss Mod Podge
- Paint Brush

First I took my elephant bank and spray painted it silver. Just in case some of the yellow showed through the leaf (this is optional).

After the object was dry I painted a thin layer of Mod Podge in sections on the elephant and applied the silver leaf gently.

Once this was dry I added a complete coat of Mod Podge around the entire elephant to seal everything in. Then I waited patiently until it dried. Its that simple :)

Link Love

First and foremost I think Pinterest is so amazing. I have been completely inspired by design, fashion, decor, and DIY projects. There are so many things to look at. Another awesome site is Raverly. Raverly has free/purchasable patterns for knitting and crocheting. Lately I'm focusing on crocheting since I've been working on a few Christmas gifts. This way I'm not waiting till last minute. So here are a few lovely crochet links:)

Bling

A few days ago I made these super simple rings and thought I would share the tutorial:)

You will need

Clear glass gems
Silver leaf/Gold leaf (flakes or sheets)
Ring with a pad (I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby)
Decorative paper or fabric
Crazy Glue brush-on
Hot Glue gun/glue
Mod Podge dimensional magic or Mod Podge (optional)
Scissors

First cut out any shape/images you would like to show through the ring. Then put a thin layer of crazy glue on the back of the gem and place the image you previously cut face down.

Once the image has dried start gluing pieces of silver and or gold leaf to the back of the clear gem with the crazy glue. Once dry cut out a circle piece of paper/fabric to cover the entire back and glue it down.

I opted to add Mod Podge dimensional glue to the paper so its protected from water and wear but this option can be skipped. Once dry glue the ring base to the back using a hot glue gun....

and Tada you have a new ring or four :)
